Change and Hope

Today I attended an event at the Monona Terrace to watch the Inauguration of President Barak Hussein Obama. There were many people in attendance. The people were excited, happy, and hopful.  There was cheering and crying as we all watched the passing of the torch. Seeing the millions in attendance in Washington D.C, made my eyes well up with tears. With this force of common good the world cannot help but change for the better.

President Obama's speech was so insipring and spoke to the many values I hold dear. The responsibility of those with power to do the right thing,  to serve fellow members of the human race was a very strong message. This quote spoke volumes to me.

"-- and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart -- not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good."

Today I have hope.
